About the project
Valuing Community-Led Design is one of the four follow-up projects that were awarded funding following a research development workshop on the theme of Communities, Culture and Design organized by AHRC in collaboration with the Design Council. The project runs from February 2012 to May 2013.
In March 2013, the project was chosen by AHRC to appear as a case study to highlight the contributions that design can make to the Connected Communities Programme. Read the case study here. Madano partnership also created a short film about the project.

Partners
The project involves 2 key partners:
The Glass-House Community Led Design is a national charity that gives both communities and regeneration professionals the skills and confidence to lead and contribute to design and neighbourhood planning that involves and benefits local people. The organisation uses its experience of supporting projects throughout the UK to promote discussion and to influence policy and practice around community led design.
Architecture Centre Network is the national development and advocacy organisation for 20+ independent architecture centres and aims to promote public engagement with architecture and improve the quality of the built environment. The organisation closed down in July 2012, following the loss of its core funding but the architecture centres continue to operate and collaborate to share knowledge and information, advocate for good design and ‘help people make better places’.
